Zhong Yi Xue Ye Bing Xue (Theory of Chinese Medical Hematology), Sun Wei-zheng, ed., National Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Publishing House, Beijing, 2000. Dr. Sun's book represents the first comprehensive Chinese hematology book available in China. This does not mean, however, that treatment manuals of hematological diseases did not exist previously. The main source upon which most articles and departments base their differentiation and treatment of hematological diseases are the clinical standards put forth by the all-China congresses and symposia held for the individual specialties, including Chinese hematology. It is these congresses and symposia, headed by some of the foremost practitioners of Chinese medicine in China, that define diagnostic criteria and treatment standards which then represent the Chinese medical standards of care all across China.
